Everyone come out to Dirty South Improv in Carrboro tonight! CHiPs is kicking off the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival with a sketch comedy show that starts at 8pm. Doors open at 7:30 and its only $5 with your UNC student ID. It's going to be kickass and we're performing with teams from Charlotte, Greensboro, and Toronto!

Don’t miss out on the chance to be a part of the first-ever MP3 experiment at UNC! October 15 @ 12:30!

Don’t miss out on the chance to be a part of the first-ever MP3 experiment in North Carolina! The UNC Office of the Executive Director for the Arts (EDA) is partnering with UNC alumnus Charlie Todd, founder of New York-based improv group “Improv Everywhere,” to conduct a UNC version of the famous “MP3 Experiments” that have taken place around the world. These events have drawn thousands of participants in New York, Toronto, San Francisco, Chicago, Germany, and Australia – now it’s UNC’s turn!

The experiment will take place in Polk Place, at precisely 12:30 p.m., October 15^th 2009, and will last approximately 45 minutes. The Office of the EDA encourages all members of the University community to participate in the experiment, which is free and open to the public.

AUDITIONS are finally scheduled for the upcoming Fall 2009 Semester!

The first night of Auditions will be TUESDAY, September 8th in CDA Room 104 at 7:00 or 8:30.

Callbacks will be WEDNESDAY, September 9th and THURSDAY, September 10th at 7:00 and 8:00 respectively. If you cannot make it to one of the callbacks we will try to be flexible but it is incredibly important, if you are called back, that you come to all three nights.

Thanks for all who came out to our Y Laugh show last night, we had a real hoot. As stated, there will be shows at the DSI theater all weekend, nearly all of which include members of CHiPs past & present.

Yo, sons. CHiPs has it's first for-da-publics show this Thursday, September the 11th at 11pm. This show will be part of Y Laugh, a weekend-long comedy marathon at the DSI Comedy Theater in Carrboro to benefit the Chapel Hill YMCA.

CHiPs show at 11 will cost you 5 dollars. 12 dollars will get you in to all the shows for the night, including a stand-up showcase at 8 and the super-fab Four String Samurai at 9:30. For serious, they are some real shit, son.

DSI is located in the Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro, behind Elmo's and the Harris Teeter. Check out their website at the bottom for more info and while you're at it, invite your friends through the social networking tool the Facebook. Perhaps you have heard of it. It is also down there, at the bottom.

Come out at 11 for an hour of CHiPs sketch and improv comedy and get hype about what this semester has to offer us all. Plus, the ticket is probably a tax ride-off.

At long last, here are the details about CHiPs' upcoming auditions.

Monday, August 25th.
Center for Dramatic Arts
Room 104
7:00 or 8:30
Callbacks on Tuesday and Wednesday

The Center for Dramatic Arts is on Country Club Road, behind Jackson Hall. Room 104 should be down the hallway to the right? Yes, we are almost certain it is down that hallway to the right. We will have two audition sessions--at 7 and 8:30, but you know that--and you can show up at either one.

You'll be doing some scenes wherein you and a partner will be given a suggestion and away you go into the magical stratosphere of improvisational theater. We'll explain the kind of thing we are looking for at the audition, but you should know that no experience is needed. So if you are not sure whether to audition or not, CHiPs says that of course you should. And if you still aren't certain, CHiPs doesn't understand why because we just told you not to be. But if that still hasn't done it, then you should encourage that friend of yours that you always thought was playful and funny and clever and tell her or him or them all to come.

Also, CHiPs has a show this Friday at 8:30 for the North Carolina Hillel. Maybe we'll see you there? Yeah! Alright!

Hallo and welcome to our blog. CHiPs has a big semester coming up, a real big one, and you can be a part of it in a few ways ways.

ONE. Join the CHiPs & Friends facebook group for appropriately occasional updates. There is a link over there, to the right. We promise we won't send you messages like your friend's band's facebook group does unless they are really important or unless our friend starts a band.

TWO. Watch some videos on our revver page, also placed conveniently in the right-hand column.

THREE. Keep living the dream, thus binding us all together in a great big ball of life and ambition.

And most importantly,

FOUR. Audition for CHiPs on Monday, August the 25th. Our auditions are fun as they involve laughter and the occasional curse word and the information sheet you fill out will probably ask you to do something silly like draw a picture of a fruit. Plus we expect--even encourage!--no previous experience. In anything. We want your pure, unadulterated talent.
